caldera
I closed my eyes,
to turn out the lights
you lit the sky for miles
caldera
you arched through the sky
you punched through the night
to you, everyone’s a child
I thought I
knew you from afar
reading your scars
in the upside and down
I could never manage to grasp
through the smoke and the gasps
the anger in which you drown
your voice is the
heart, the heat, heard
from your viscous pulpit
you’re ancient and new
an everything in between –
so beautiful is your spirit
through the pitch of darkness
you’re a ruin, you’re a martyr
– can never be hopeless
with time as your partner
you glow and wait –
caldera,
through anger you create –
caldera.
